Dorchester 4-Hers shine in state hippology event

COLLEGE PARK, Md. (May 23, 2017) — On Saturday, May 6, Dorchester County’s 4-H Hippology Team competed at the statewide contest held at the University of Maryland.
Hippology, directly derived, means “the study of horses,” and the state contest rigorously tests the 4-Hers’ knowledge of horses and horse related items.
After not having a team for more than 20 years, Dorchester County was represented and competed in the intermediate age division.
Caroline Wilson received third in the state, Rachel Widmaier fourth in the state, Ali Todd and Rilynn Blake received red ribbons and Kaitlyn Bradley received a white ribbon, all ribbons are based on the Danish System.
The team said they are looking forward to practicing for next year’s competition and expanding into the horse-judging category as well.
