Atlantic National shows 172 entries in Maryland

TIMONIUM, Md. (June 27, 2017) — The first Atlantic National was held 31 years ago at the Maryland State Fairgrounds, and it has grown to be one of the premier Angus shows in the nation.
The event includes the Junior Preview Show, which was held this year on May 27, and the Roll Of Victory Angus Show held the following day, plus a reception, dinner and several presentations.
This year’s show had 172 entries in the ROV Show, which was judged by Arlen Sawyer of Bassett, Neb. Entries in the ROV Show included 138 females, 28 bulls and six cow-calf pairs.     
The Supreme Champion of the ROV show was DJAS Special Effects 044, the Open Show Junior Champion and Grand Champion Bull, owned and exhibited by Payton Herzog of Robinson, Texas. The Champion was calved May 27, 2015 and is a son of DAJS After Effect 714, and out of DAJS Lillie 540.
The Reserve Grand Champion Bull of the Open Class, was DAJS HH Bonfire 300, a March 4, 2015 son of DAJS After Burn 714 and out of DAJS Sally 928, exhibited by Doug Satree Angus, of Montague, Texas.
The Grand Champion Female of the Open Show was the Early Summer Calf Champion, Beaver Creek Blackcap 673 by WWSC Slider and out of Beaver Creek Blackcap 459, calved May 05, 2016, and owned and exhibited by Conner K. Grim of Dover, Pa.
Reserve Grand Champion Female of the Open Show was PDV Ark Pride 397D, by PVF Insight 0129, and out of Cherry Knoll Ark Pride 1188, an April 4, 2016 heifer exhibited by Jake Rippeon of Mount Airy, Md.
The Premier Exhibitor was Morgan Hutchins of Charleston, Ill., and the Premier Breeder was Cherry Knoll Farm of West Grove, Penna.  Cherry Knoll also had the Best 6 Head.
The Open Champion Cow/With Natural Calf Pair, was AED Rita 328A, a daughter of Connealy Final Product out of AED Rita 202Z, with a November 2, 2016 heifer calf at side sired by SAC Conversation, shown by Allison E. Davis of Shelbyville, Tennessee. The Reserve Freys KIF Arkpride U41-Y1011, a daughter of SAV Pioneer 7301, out of Freys Cheryknol Arkpride U41, with a February bull calf at side sired by 5T Power Chip 4790, exhibited by Jade Zimmerman of Stevens, Penna.
Former Marylander,  Chris Mullinix, of Manhattan, Kansas, judged the Junior Show. There were 115 Owned Females, 33 Bred and Owned Females, 11 Bred-and Owned  Bulls, five Cow-Calf Pairs, and 14 Steers shown in the Junior Show.
The Grand Champion Bred and Owned Bull of the Junior Show was CCC Womack Blue Diamond D010. He is a January 2016 son of EXAR Blue Chip 1877B and was first the Junior Champion. The Reserve Grand Champion Bred-and Owned Bull was Destinys Perseus 185, an April 2016 son of Destinys Sound 38 and he was first Reserve Junior Champion.
The Grand Champion Owned Heifer of the Junior Show was the Senior Calf Champion, SSF Lady Impression 0265, sired by Dameron First Impression and out of Copper Crk Lady Out 1120, shown by Kallie Anne Knott of Laotto, Ind. She was the Senior Calf Champion.
The Reserve Grand Champion Owned Female was PVF Proven Queen 5250, by C & C McKinley 3000 EXAR and out of PVF Proven Queen 2108, exhibited by Korey Moser of Larchwood, Iowa.
Brody Fitzgerald of West Grove, Penn., exhibited the Grand Champion Bred-and-Owned Female, Cherry Knoll Lady 1481. She is a November 2014 daughter of Dameron First Class and was first the Senior Champion.
Cherry Knoll May 1672 was the Reserve Grand Champion Bred-and-Owned female for Bryce Fitzgerald, of West Grove, Pa. She is a July 2016 daughter of S A V Brilliance 8077 and was first the Summer Calf Champion.
The Grand Champion Owned Cow-Calf Pair was AED Rita 328A, by Connealy Final Product, out of AED Rita 202Z.
Reserve Owned Cow-Calf Pair was Destinys Lady M12, by S A V Avenger of 9969, out of Destinys Lady of L38 DO39, with a heifer calf sired by Destinys Sound 38, and shown by Morgan Lea Hutchins of Charleston, Illinois.
Suter Clark of Gretna, Virginia, led Buchanan’s Wasabi to the Grand Champion Steer title . He is a March 2016 son of PVF Surveillance 4129.
The Grand Champion Bred-and-Owned Steer and the Reserve Grand Champion Steer was Shady Dell Zack 429, exhibited by Conner Grim of Dover, Penna. He is an April 2016 son of Connealy Black Granite.
Christopher Moxley of West Friendship, Md., had the Reserve Grand Champion Bred-and-Owned Steer, DA Class Act 346, a March 2016 son of EXAR Classen 1422B.
