More than 200 cattle paraded at top Angus show

HARRISONBURG, Va. (March 28, 2017) — Judge Randy Perry of Prather California saw 282 head of Angus cattle, shown by junior livestock enthusiasts, parade through the ring at the 2017 Mid-Atlantic Junior Angus Classic Regional Preview Show at Rockingham County Fairgrounds from March 11-12.
The event is one of the premier junior livestock shows in the country.
Following are the show results.
Grand champion bred-and-owned bull was MVF First Light C603 by PVF Insight 0129 and was calved  in April 2016. He was first the Junior champion. Owner is Bryce Bowman, of Barboursville, Va.
BK Gambling Man won the reserve grand champion bred-and-owned bull championship. He is by
AHFF the Gambler 401B and is an April 2016 bull.  Owner is Karli Berkheimer of Dillsburg, Pa. He the reserve junior champion bull.
Bred and Owned Intermediate Champion Bull was BFN Insight, owned by Blake Nisewander of Greencastle, Pa., and the Bred and Owned Intermediate  Champion Bull was Sunridge Rifleman, owned by Landon Hall of Bolt, Va.
Hayden Hahn of Rocky Ridge, Md. exhibited the Bred and Owned Senior Champion Bull Calf Champion, Windy Ridge Classen, and Mark Alexander of Berryville, Va., had the Reserve Senior Bull Calf,Champion, Turning Pt Mr Clyde 6126.
The Grand Champion Steer, Buchanan’s Wasabi by PVF Surveillance 4129, was also junior champ. steer and was owned by Suter Clark of Gretna, Va.
Reserve Grand Champion Steer was Pugh First Class Elm 604 by Dameron First Class, calved March 2016; and owned by Caleb Boden, Clear Brook, Va. He was first the Reserve junior champion steer.
The Grand Champion Bred and Owned Steer was Shady Dell Zack 429 an April 2016 son of Connealy Black Granite, shown by Conner Grim, of Dover, Pa., and he was also the Junior Champ. Bred & Owned Steer.
The Reserve Grand Champion Bred & Owned Steer was Washington Sammy 356, a 2016 son of Silveiras Style 9303, shown by Alyson Schulz of Woodbine, Md., that was first Reserve Junior Champion.
Bred and Owned Intermediate Champion Bull was BFN Insight, owned by Blake Nisewander of Greencastle, Pa. and the Bred and Owned Intermediate  Champion Bull was Sunridge Rifleman, owned by Landon Hall of Bolt, Va.
The Angus-Based Crossbred Steer was shown by Chase Hanson, of Lewisburg, W.Va., and he was a March 2016 calf weighing in at 1,045 pounds.
The Reserve Champion Angus-Based Crossbred Steer, was the middle weight steer champion exhibited by Kelsy Wolfe of Mt. Airy, Md., born in April 2016 and weighing 950 pounds.
Ruth Alexander of Louisa, Va.. had the Intermediate Champion Steer, PVF Priority 6239 and Haydon Hahn of Rocky Ridge, Md., had the Reserve Intermediate Champion Steer, DA Melo 626.
Reserve Heavy Weight Steer owned by Brody Hanson of Lewisburg, W.Va., was a March 2016 calf and weighed in at 1,040 pounds.
The Champion Light Weight Angus-Based Crossbred Steer, a May 2016 calf, owned by Amanda Farmer of Frederick, Md., weighed 814 pounds.
Landon Marshall of Weyers Cave, Va., had the Reserve Champion Light  Weight Angus Steer. Calved June 2016, weighed 736 pounds.
Bred and Owned Intermediate Champion Steer was shown by Kaitlin Bell of Nottingham, Pa., and the Bred and Owned Reserve Intermediate Champion Steer was BFB Speedy 164, owned by Blake Nisewander of Greencastle, Pa.
Claudia Hissong of Greencastle, Pa. took Senior Showmanship, and Robert Nixon, III, of Radian, Va., was Second in Senior Showmanship.
The Intermediate Showmanship Champion was Zach McCall of Greenville, Va., and Avery Dull of Westminster, Md. was the Reserve Champion.
Jordan Kelly of Berryville, Va., was the Junior Showmanship Champion and Kaylie Shelton of Frederick, Md., was the Reserve Junior Champion.
Novice Showmanship winner was Zachary Armstrong, of Williamsville, Va., and Reserve was Cloe Coblents of Woodsboro, Md.
Champion Bred & Owned Female was the Senior Champion, MC PVF Blackcap 5258, a September 2015 daughter of PVF Insight O129, exhibited by Zack McCall of Greenville, Va. The Reserve Grand Champion Bred & Owned Female was Buchanan’s Georgina V401, also by PVF Insight 029, exhibited by Kelsi Lason of Leesburg, Va.
Another daughter of PVF Insight 029 was the Grand Champion Owned Female, PVF Blackbird 6207, calved in April of 2016. She is owned by Avery Dull of Westminster, Md. The Reserve Grand Champion Owned Female was Cherry Knoll Ark Pride 1593, an Oct. 2015 daughter of Plum Creek Paradox 161B, an October 2015 shown by Elizabeth Trowbridge of Meshoppen, Pa.
The Grand Champion Cow-Calf Pair, was a December 2013 female, AED Rita 328A, by Connealy Final Product, with her November 2016 heifer calf by SAC Conversation. They were first the Champion Mature Cow-calf Pair, and shown by Allison Davis of Shelbyille, Tenn.
Circle R/Big Run Shadoe 9853, a November 2014 daughter of Silvers Styre 9303, with her December 2016 PVF Insight 0129 calf at side, were the Reserve Grand Champion Cow-calf Pair. They were first Champion Two-year Old Cow-calf Pair and were exhibited by Kendall Clark of Brockton Mills, W.Va.
Bred and Owned Reserve Senior Champion Female was JME Plowess 219 570, Owned by Jaylyn Eutler of Unionville, Va.
Owned Reserve Senior Champion Female was Dameron C-5 Cheyenne 5199, shown by Justin Wood of Willow  Spring, N.C.
Bryce Fitzgerald of West Grove, Pa., exhibited the Bred-and-Owned Intermediate Champion Heifer, Cherry Knoll May 1672 and Savannah Brauning of Finksburg, Md., had the Bred-and- Owned Reserve Intermediate Champion Heifer, SAB DLB Georgina Goldie.
Owned Intermediate Champion Heifer was FDE Rosebud 618, exhibited by Andrew Hough of Mt. Airy, Md., and the Reserve was shown by Conner Grim of Dover, Pa.
The Owned Early Junior Champion Heifer was PDF Blackbird 6031, owned by Robert Nixon, III, of Radian, Va. and the Reserve Owned Early Junior Champion was Buchanan’s Georgina exhibited by Breann Steadman of Greenwood, S.C.
Owned Reserve Late Junior Champion Heifer was Cherry Knoll Eisa 1640, owned by Michael Butz of Reinholds, Pa.
Bred and Owned Senior Heifer Calf Champion was HCA BLACKCAP 60O1, shown by Henry Aleexander of Louisa, Va.
Bred and Owned Reserve Senior Heifer Calf Champion was AED Rita 627D, Owned by Allison Davis of Shelbyville, Tenn.
Owned Reserve Senior Heifer Calf Champion, Legacy Blackcap 644 was exhibited by Berkeley Frank of Winchester, Va.
Premier Breeder was Prarie View Farm of Gridley, Ill.
Bonz and Silver Awards went to Jake McCall of Greenville, Va. The Bronze and Silver Awards are the first and second level of the National Junior Angus Association Recognition Program. Juniors must apply for the awards and then meet point requirements in many areas of participation before receiving the award.
Reserve Mature Cow Calf Pair were Turning Point Miss Bonny 126, a daughter of Turning Pt Outsider 9317, and her October Bull cull calf sired by BF First Transaction, exhibited by Mark Alexander of Berryville, Va.
Turning Pt Camilla Mae 4213 won the Reserve Two-year-old Cow-Calf Pair. She is a daughter of Brookemeade Performer 010 and had a September 2016 heifer calf sired by Connealy Capitalist 028 and is owned by Lauren Beasley of Bluemont, Va.
Daniel Rohrbaugh of Seven Valleys, Pa., and Sarah Harris of Buchanan, Va., were awarded their Bronze and Silver Awards during the show. These awards are the first and second level of the National Junior Angus Classic Regional Preview Show. Juniors must apply for the awards and then meet point requirements in many areas of participation before receiving the award.
