Fitzgeralds show top Angus at 26th Atlantic National

TIMONIUM, Md. — The 26th Atlantic National Angus Show was held with 179 entries at the Maryland State Fairgrounds on May 27.
Scott Buchanan of Aldie, Va., was the judge for the 156 females, 20 bulls and three cow-calf pairs. The show is now designated as one of the American Angus Association’s Super Point ROV Angus Shows and is one of the largest in the United States.
Supreme Champion of the show was the Grand Champion female, Cherry Knoll Lady Pippa 1111, the late spring calf champion, exhibited by Brody Fitzgerald of West Grove, Pa. She is a February 2011 daughter of Connealy Final Solution, out of Cherry Knoll Lady 831 was also reserve grand champion bred and owned female in the junior preview show.
The Grand Champion Bull was the was the junior champion, Gambles Safe Bet, an April 2010 son of Northern Improvement 4480 GF, out of Gambles Lady 961, exhibited by Holly Gamble of Clinton, Tenn.
The Grand Champion Cow-Calf Pair was J K S Miss Cheyenne 4209, and April daughter of A A R NEw Design 6537, with a March 2012 heifer calf sire by S A V Pioneer 7301 at side, exhibited by Jamie Smith of Lebanon, Tenn.
The Reserve Grand Champion Bull was Cherry Knoll Lutton 1133, an April 2011 son of Exar Lutton that was the late spring bull calf champion and was shown by Brody Fitzgerald.
The Reserve Grand Champion Female was the senior calf champion, Champion Hill Cheyenne 7796, a September 2010 daughter of S A V Free Spirit 8164, exhibited by Caroline Cowles of Rockfield, Ky.
The Reserve Grand Champion Cow-Calf Pair was exhibited by Just-Enuff Angus of Bethlehem, Pa. She is an August 2007 daughter of S A V 8180 Traveler 004 and had a September 2011 bull calf at side sired by S A V Bismarck 5682.
Junior Angus exhibitors from as far as Georgia and Alberta, Canada, and the states in between, exhibited 210 head of cattle at the regional Preview Junior Angus Show held the same day.
Altogether there were 140 owned females, 40 bred-and-owned females, 10 bred-and-owned bulls, and 20 steers paraded before judge, Donnie Robertson of Yukon, Oklahoma.
The grand champion junior bred-and-owned bull was Cherry Knoll Lutton 1133, exhibited by Brody Fitzgerald of West Grove, Pa. He is an April 2011 son of Exar Lutton 1831. Bad Romance, a September 2011 son of S A V 004 Traveler 4836, shown by Kaitlyn Clarke of West Chester, Ohio took the reserve.
PVF Blackbird 1010, a January 2011 daughter of S A V Brilliance 8077, was the grand champion owned female exhibited by Chase Cunningham of Lebanon, Ind. She was the early spring calf champion.
The late spring calf champion, Dameron Blackbird 1708, exhibited by Keegan Cassidy of Mahomet, Ill., was the reserve grand champion owned female. She is a March 2011 daughter of Dameron First Class.
Bryce Fitzgerald of West Grove, Pa., was the exhibitor of the grand champion bred-and-owned female, Cherry Knoll Fern 9072, a September 2009 daughter of MCATL Reachout 836. She was the senior champion.
Bryce Fitzgerald also had the grand champion steer and grand champion bred-and-owned steer with Cherry Knoll Lou 1164, an April 2011 son of Plainview Lutton E102.
The reserve grand champion steer was Gambles Lookout 2631, a February 2011 son of B C Lookout 7024, owned by Madison Weaver of Ephrata, Pa.
