Maryland All-Breed Calf Sale sells 31

FREDERICK, Md. — Hillacres Prix Morgan, a June 2011 Jersey calf, consigned by Tom and Mandy Arrowsmith of Peach Bottom, Pa., topped the 2012 Maryland All-Breed Calf Sale, at $5,000, selling to Ralph Ward Jr. of Smithsburg, Md.
She was the second calf in the ring at the April 28, 2012 sale held at the Frederick Fairgrounds in Frederick, Md.
The average for the 31 calves sold was $1,260 and they included 10 Jerseys, nine Holsteins, four Ayrshires, three Red & White Holsteins, two Brown Swiss, two Milking Shorthorns and one Guernsey calf.
The top seller, Hillacres Prix Morgan, was sired by Rapid Bay Grand-Prix-ET and her dam is Hillacres Monas Monique by Sparklers Unique Stetson.
The second-high selling individual was a Red & White Holstein, El-Lil Absol Raven-Red, consigned by Brett and Andrea Haines  of Sun Prairie, Wisc.
She brought $2,450 on a bid from Timothy Mayne Sr., of Harpers Ferry, W.Va.
She is a September 2011 daughter of Apples Absolute-Red-ET, out of Windsor-Manor Rabbitt-ET.
A December 2011 calf out of Savage-Leigh Lenia-ET, consigned by Brett Haines and Josh Sanders of Taneytown, Md., brought the third high price of $2,400 from Caleb McGee of Clearfield, Pa. She is a Holstein calf sired by MD-Delight Durham Atlas-ET.
Selling at $2,250 for the fourth high price was another December 2011 calf, a Jersey, Heaths Fern Sherona, by Kellogg-Bay Fernmaster-ET, out of Heaths Citation Shantalle, consigned by Ryan Poole of Wetminster, Md.
She sold to Hannah Hood of Union Bridge, Md.
A Guernsey heifer from Aaron Gable in New Enterprise, Pa., brought $1,800, the fifth high price of the sale, and sold to Marissa Roberts of Taneytown, Md.
She is Sniders Agenda Dew Drop and is sired by Sniders Good Guy Agenda and out of Sniders Bunker Dorsey and is an October 2011 calf.
Old Mill Goliath Debbie, consigned by Allen and Tammy Bassler of Upperville, Va., was sixth high seller at $1,675, selling to Ron Statler II,  of Greencastle, Pa. She is a September 2011 daughter of Old Mill Tray Goliath ET, out of Old Mill Starsky Delicate ET.
The sale chairman was Ryan Haines, Dennis Remsberg was the auctioneer and Josh Sanders read pedigrees.
