High-selling calf fetches $13,000 at annual sale

FREDERICK, Md. — Top Acres Garbro Shania ET topped the Mid-Atlantic Brown Swiss Calf Sale at $13,000, selling to Rajean Mathys of Manitoba, Canada.
The sale was held on April 21 at the Frederick Fairgrounds.
The high-selling heifer, a show heifer, was a consignment of Wayne Sliker and Garrison Bros., of St. Paris, Ohio, and is a September 2011 daughter of Top Acres C Wonderment ET, out of Terra Rose R Shannon ET.
Bringing second top money at $7,900, was another Top Acres-Garrison Bros, consignment, Top Acres Garbro Winner ET, also by Wonderment.
She is a December 2011 heifer out of Round Hill Pre Wishful ET, and was purchased by Jonathan Hubbard of Thurmont, Md.
Garbro Blessing B Joesie, consigned by Blessing Farms of Fort Wayne, Ind., brought the third high price of $3,800 from Scott Hood and Dave Eigenbrode of Middletown, Md.
She is a December 2011 calf by Mort Legacy Bonanza out of Garbro Jet Pilot Juggs ET.
A consignment from Cynthia Long Warner of Frederick, Md., brought the fourth highest price, $3,150, on a bid from Steve, Barb and David Wilson of Port Royal, Pa.
The heifer is Round Hill Wondr Fancy Twin and she is an April 11, 2011 daughter of Top Acres C Wonderment ET, out of Daveco Fastrack Fergie ET.
Old Mill Goliath Tiffany, a June 2011 calf consigned by M. Lorraine Bassler of Rectortown, Va., brought $3,100 from Brittany Thompson of Middlebrook, Va., making her the fifth high selling calf.
She is a daughter of Old Mill Tray Goliath ET, and out of Old Mill Sol Tracy.
Twenty-nine head averaged $2,404. Denny Remsburg was the auctioneer and Wayne Sliker read pedigrees.
