Maryland-Delaware Ayrshire group gathers for banquet

CREAGERSTOWN, Md. (March 29, 2016) — The 2016 Maryland-Delaware Ayrshire Banquet was held March 17, at the Parish Hall of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Creagerstown, Md.
Junior activities were the first order of the evening and the crowning of the 2016-17 Maryland Ayrshire Queen, Arianna Piper of Fairfield, Md. and the 2016-17 Maryland Ayrshire Princess, Tiffany Lenhart of Thurmont.
Elected officers of the Junior Association were: President, Kayla Lehhart; Vice-President, Arianna Piper; Secretary, Gavin Valentine of Thurmont; Reporter, John Schroyer of Frederick; and Sunshine Committee, Josh Hubbard.
Record book winners were Cadin Valentine of Thurmont for the intermediate level and Arriana Piper for the senior level.
Jeff Hubbard of Thurmont, Kandice Lenhardt of Thurmont, and Max Thornburg of Walkersville, are new  three year directors of the association.
Michael Creek of Hagerstown, Md., won the Appreciation Award presented by the junior members for his work with them.
Mary Creek of Hagerstown was given a Congratulatory Award for her judging at the World Dairy Expo last year.
Other activities planned for the coming year include the Summer Picnic at Steel Fire Farm owned by the Winkler family in Woodbine, Md., and the State Ayrshire Field Day at the Maryland State Fairgrounds in Timonium, Md., on June 5.
Judge for that event will be Greg Evans of Georgetown, N.Y.
