Pig, 3 cows stolen from dairy farm

SEAFORD, Del. (Dec. 16, 2014) — Three cows and a pig were reported stolen from a Sussex County dairy farm earlier this month, Delaware State Police said.
The livestock was stolen from Ockels Dairy Farm in the 8900 block of Ockels Drive between 2 a.m. and 9 a.m. on Dec. 3, said Master Cpl. Gary Fournier.
Two cows — a 2-year-old female and a week-old calf — were taken from a holding pen, and a third cow, which was all black, is about 9 months old, he said.
Herman Ockels, who owns the farm, said a farmhand discovered the theft when he came onto the farm that morning. The farm has about 48 animals, including pigs and cows.
Judging by the way the thief entered the farm, it was likely someone familiar with the property, said Rodney Sweet, Ockels’ attorney.
Police do not have any suspects, Fournier said. The cows and the pig are valued at more than $2,600.
