N.J. greenhouse growers confab is June 18

(June 2014) The New Jersey Nursery and Landscape Association will host its second annual Greenhouse Growers Conference on June 18 at the Rutgers Eco-Complex in Bordentown. This year's program includes both industry and university speakers.
Dr. A.J. Both from Rutgers University will be presenting again, this year on the subject of LED lighting. “Rapid improvements in LED technology have created opportunity for plant growth opportunity,” Both explained. “LEDs allow for adjustments in spectral quality of the light provided, which can be made as needed during the entire growth cycle and could potentially improve efficiency during the entire growth process.”
Robin Brumfield and Yasmin Rivera, also representing Rutgers, will talk on greenhouse marketing and disease management, respectively.
Industry speakers round out the event, including former Rutgers Extension specialist George Wulster, who will be speaking on plant growth regulators, and Joanne Lutz of Griffin Greenhouse Supply, who will be delivering a talk entitled “Bee Informed — Pesticides, Bees, and BCA Compatibility.”
The Greenhouse Growers Conference has been approved for several pesticide credits. For more information and to register, visit or call the NJNLA at (609) 291-7070.
